Driver Academy Successful Apprentices

Simply Waste Solutions’ Driver Training Academy has had another successful round of apprentices who have gained their Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) licences.

At the beginning of 2017, Simply Waste introduced its new Driver Training Academy. After having its first successful apprentice pass in August the same year, more Simply Waste employees have been put through their LGV training and tests.

The three latest apprentices, Matt, Adam and Ryan, were recognised as potential LGV drivers from their hard work and dedication to Simply Waste and were put forward for the academy. They underwent a medical exam to ensure they were fit to drive, passed their theory tests and completed comprehensive in-house and external training before being put forward for their practical tests.

The Driver Training Academy has been designed and initiated to promote internally, ensuring that employees feel valued and want to continue their career with Simply Waste. The Training Academy Manager, Kevin Barcroft along with other key management, have worked hard to establish a fully integrated and circular training structure.

It’s important to work with existing employees to encourage progression and offer opportunities that they might not be able to achieve without Simply’s experienced driver trainers and financial support.

The next round of apprentice drivers have already started their journey towards becoming a professional LGV driver. Two of these drivers joined from Dirty Harry’s when its waste management division was acquired by Simply Waste back in February. Since joining Simply Waste, they’ve fitted in extremely well and shown a lot of potential, something Simply Waste are keen to invest in and show appreciation for.

Everyone at Simply Waste wishes its new trainees the best of luck and looks forward to updates on their progress. To read a past post and find out more information about the Driver Training Academy, follow the link here.
