Recycle Week is Here

Recycle week - it's worth it campaign

This week is the 14th national celebration of recycling from WRAP, this year’s theme is ‘Recycling – It’s worth it’. It’s aimed at getting people to recycle the right things more often.

Recycling is processing used materials (waste) into new, useful products. This is done to reduce the use of raw materials that would have been used, doing this also uses less energy.

There are plenty of surprising things that can be made from recycled materials, for example, playground equipment and t-shirts being made from recycled plastic bottles, mobile phone parts made from recycled aerosols and bike frames formed from recycled drink cans.

The benefits of recycling to the environment are huge, not only does a valuable resource get saved from landfill or incineration and in turn reduce greenhouse gasses, it reduces the need to extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution.

What do we do?

At Simply Waste Solutions we’re committed to ensuring that as much waste as possible that we collect is reused, recycled or recovered and we guarantee that absolutely none of the waste we collect will end its life in a landfill site.

Our residual waste is used by a Waste to Energy facility that turns the unrecyclable waste into power that contributes towards powering more than 100,000 London homes. We also use Anaerobic Digestion (AD) which is a process that turns food waste into energy that assists in powering local communities as well as providing valuable resources that can be used for agricultural purposes. This takes Landfill, one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, out of the equation, completely eliminating its negative environmental impact.
