Simply Waste Solutions continues to invest in its vehicles and is the first company in the UK to add the brand-new Scania P-Series trucks to its fleet.
The four state-of-the-art trucks reflect the growth and ongoing investment that the company is making and its commitment to having a green and reliable fleet of waste removal vehicles.
The new generation, Scania P-Series, Euro 6 trucks add to our already large fleet of Euro 6 engine vehicles and meet the standards that are expected to be introduced as part of London’s Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). ULEZ plans have been accelerated and could now be introduced as early as next year. If a vehicle doesn’t meet these standards and doesn’t pay the daily charge, a fine of up to £1,000 can be issued.
Simply Waste is the first company in the UK to have this new generation chassis delivered. The redesigned cabs boast:
- LED lights
- Enhanced drivability and visibility
- Increased safety and comfort
- Ultra-low emissions
- Better fuel efficiency
Being the first company to have these new generation trucks delivered helps us meet our sustainability and safety targets.
Safety is one of the most important aspects of the business, and as Simply Waste has grown, so has its needs and knowledge. Using our many years of experience, new and updated features have been added during the build stage that will aid our drivers in being as safe an operator as possible.
The internal camera screens have been updated and display the 360° camera angles clearer than ever, the lane departure warning system (LDWS) will sound if the driver starts to stray from their lane and the automatic emergency braking systems (AEBS) gives added security in emergency situations.
Our trucks are manoeuvred in small spaces every day, so we’ve added lights that are activated when reversing. This displays advanced flooded illumination around the sides and rear of the vehicles, which additionally helps with the camera view at night and minimises the possibility of our vehicles being involved in any close-quarter manoeuvring incidents.
These build on the many features that are already built into our trucks such as Cyclear, the cyclist warning and display system and our CMS telematics system which reports on how safely, economically and legally compliant our drivers are.
We are constantly expanding our business and the services that we can offer. The investment in new trucks is testament to our rapid growth and the commitment we have to keep the business’ carbon footprint as low as possible.
We have more new trucks arriving soon, so watch this space.
