How ‘green’ are your services?
We are a zero waste to landfill company meaning that none of your waste ends its life in a hole in the ground. We recycle as much recyclable material as possible and what can’t be recycled gets converted into energy to power homes and businesses.
We vow to always use the ‘greenest’ most practical means available to treat the waste we collect. A big part of our business is the vehicles we use to collect waste, we keep a modern fleet of vehicles in operation to keep emissions down. Our fleet is compliant with the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) and will be ready for the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) next year.
Each of our vehicles is tracked with full telematics system. This tells us how the driver is driving, enabling us to offer more training if necessary, to be a more economical driver.

- What is Total Waste Management?
Total Waste Management is a service we offer at Simply Waste Solutions which includes the assessment, collection and recycling/disposal of all waste streams. We tailor our services to your business’ needs, providing you a complete range of bags, bins, skips, compactors and container systems.

- What is Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR)?
Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) allows for clean and dry; plastic bottles, aluminium and steel cans, paper and cardboard all to be mixed together in one container making it simple to boost your recycling rates at your place of work.

- What is Residual (General) Waste?
Residual waste – or as you may call it at home ‘general waste’ – is a term we use for materials that is left after the recyclable material is left out.
This can include materials such as: hard plastics, sweet and crisp wrappers, polystyrene and soiled food wrapping.
Residual Waste is prevalent in all businesses, but should, where possible, take second place to a Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) collection system.

Simply Waste Solutions wants to offer your business the best waste management solutions, that’s why we provide a national waste service via our own fleet of vehicles in London, the home counties, Oxford, and through our trusted National Supply Partners in the rest of the UK.

- Do I need to sign a contract?
Yes. We ask for a signed contract prior to starting our services. There are several reasons why a contract is important. Firstly, it doubles as the Waste Transfer Note between our businesses, this is a legal requirement and something that we both need to add legitimacy to the services we are performing for you. Secondly, it adds in some security for us and you, it’s there to ensure we do our job and that you agree to us working for you.

- I have multiple premises that need waste collections, can you help?
- Do you offer single stream collections?

Of course! We have representatives that are readily available to come and see your business to discuss your waste and recycling needs and give their expert opinion on what would best suit.
- My employees need to be educated on recycling, can you help?
We think it’s important for our customers to understand the ‘right’ way to recycle and we’re happy to visit a customer’s site to give an educational road show, we have picture led documents/posters available that can be tailored to individual businesses if needed. We want to help raise your recycling figures and will always work with you to make that happen.

- What is a Waste Transfer Note (WTN)?
A Waste Transfer Note (WTN) is a legal document that details the transfer of waste from one person to another – in this situation, from your business to us. It ensures that there is a clear trail from where the waste is produced until it is disposed of.
- How do I get my Waste Transfer Note (WTN)?
In the first year of service your contract with us acts as a Waste Transfer Note.
Should you ever lose the contract or be beyond your first year with us, we can supply you with the current Waste Transfer Note at any time. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request a copy of your Waste Transfer Note.
- My waste hasn’t been collected, help!

What are the reasons for missed collections? How can I prevent them?
While we never want to miss a collection, there are multiple reasons as to why we may not have been able to collect your waste.
To try and ensure missed collections are prevented, please make sure;
- Your waste is free of obstructions
- If you have bins, make sure they’re only filled to the top the lip. The lid should be able to close when it’s full.
- The right waste in the right bin, contamination causes service interruptions and may need to be collected on a different truck as to not contaminate the rest of the recycling.
- There is access to your waste. Having locked gates that we don’t have access to or vehicles parked in front of your containers block our waste professionals from being able to empty your waste.

How frequently will my waste be collected?
We have a minimum of weekly collections and our collection schedules vary in different areas of the UK. In most areas of London we collect daily, while in other areas service days might be less frequent. When we set up your service, we will ask how many collections you need and work with you to put in a schedule.
- I need to change the frequency of my collections
Can I have additional containers?
If you need more containers but not sure of the sizes our business waste page might give you the answers, if not, our advisers can help you with this.
If we need to take payment, please give us the number you are contactable on today and we’ll call you to complete your order.
- Can I decrease the number of containers I have?
Can I have an additional bin lift?
If you find you’re often requesting additional bin lifts, you may benefit from more or larger containers. If you’re not sure of the sizes, our business waste page might give you the answer, if not, our advisers can help you with this.
If we need to take payment, please give us the number you are contactable on and we’ll call you to complete your order.
- Can I order more waste bags / cardboard sticker tape?
If you want more waste bags or cardboard tape you can drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will arrange delivery for you. If we need to take payment, please give us the number you are contactable on today and we’ll call you to complete your order.
If you order before midday you should receive your bags the following working day. If you order after midday your order will be with you two working days after it has been processed.

I need to stop all collections

What information do you need from my business?
Not too much! We need you to fill out a contract with the address of where we’re collecting from, an address to send invoices to, the type of waste you want collected, email address, phone number and name of a contact at the site we’re collecting from.
We also need to know when you put your rubbish out for collection, so we can make sure we’re in the area when you need us to be.
- I have recently changed business address, what do I need to do?
What collection days and times do you offer?
For most areas, we offer collections 7 days a week and in some areas we can collect several times a day. This does vary in different locations, best thing to do is speak to an adviser via live chat, email or phone and they’ll let you know what days we’re in your area. If your council has restrictions, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate this.
My council has restrictions, what happens now?
If you can only put your bags or bins out at certain times because of council restrictions and we’re unable to collect in that window we will look at the possibility of an alternative collection time.

What are the do’s and don’ts of waste management?
At Simply Waste Solutions, we have very simple do’s and don’ts when it comes to waste that all play the part of ensuring you have a trouble-free waste collection process.
Such things are; DO adopt a good waste management practice which would help to make your business comply with environmental legislation, reduce costs and assist in creating a positive image of your company. DO talk to us, we are here to help and want to improve your business’ recycling figures. DON’T block access to containers, this only prevents us from collecting your waste.

Simply Waste Solutions isn’t biased when it comes to the businesses that it serves. We collect from the smallest of businesses to national names with multiple locations! No matter the size, we want your waste.

- Do you offer fortnightly or monthly collections?
What are the terms of my contract?
Our standard contracts are a minimum twelve-month period and require a 3-6 month cancellation notice period in writing, prior to the anniversary date to finish on the anniversary date.
- Can I change my service day?

Simply Waste Solutions takes pride in its apprentice scheme at the Driver Training Academy. We have had successful apprentices who have gained their Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) licences with us.

What can go in Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR)?
Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) allows for plastic bottles, metal or steel cans, paper and cardboard all to be mixed together in one container making it simple to boost your recycling rates at your place of work.
What goes in Residual (General) Waste?
Residual waste – or as you may call it at home ‘general waste’ – is a term we use for materials that are not easy to recycle. This can include materials such as: hard plastics, sweet and crisp wrappers, polystyrene and soiled food wrapping.
What happens to Residual (General) Waste?
Your Residual Waste is collected and taken to an Energy from Waste plant (EfW). The waste is gathered in the tipping bay and incinerated. Ash collected from the burning is used as a material for road construction and the heat created from the incineration process boils water and produces steam
The steam drives a generator and produces electricity. This electricity powers the facility and is also fed into the National Grid, powering homes and businesses.

What is the Glass Recycling process?
Did you know that glass can be recycled an infinite number of times? When glass is collected by Simply Waste Solutions it is taken to a processing facility. After it’s washed and sorted into colours it gets melted and moulded into new glass products.

How do cardboard stickers work?
This service is very easy to use. Flat pack your cardboard boxes and stack them into a pile. Tape them together so that they are held firmly together. Then cut one length of sticker (denoted by the cut marks) from your sticker roll and stick it to the bundle. Leave the bundle out for collection with the sticker clearly displayed and we’ll collect it.
What can I put in my glass recycling?
We accept clean glass bottles and glass jars of any colour.
Window glass, windscreen glass, safety glass and glazed glass cannot go in the same container.

What can I put in my food recycling?
Our food waste service allows businesses who produce a lot of waste food to dispose of it in the greenest way possible. Our bins for food waste can be used to dispose of plate scrapings, offcuts, meat, fish, primary packaged food, dairy products, fruits and vegetables to name a few.

What is a Waste to Energy Plant?
A Waste to Energy plant is a waste management facility that converts waste into electricity. It works by incinerating waste at very high temperatures causing the heat to make steam. The steam created by the heat drives a generator which produces electricity. This electricity gets fed into the National Grid to provide energy for homes and businesses.
What is WEEE Waste?
WEEE Waste stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and includes items such as; office electricals, kitchen items and many other types of electrical equipment.
With WEEE Waste, Simply Waste Solutions offers the DataPod which holds all electronic equipment that contains sensitive data, helping your business to stay GDPR compliant.

What is Confidential (Shredded) Waste?
Our confidential Waste shredding service makes sure that any confidential waste is handled and shredded to a high standard.
Confidential waste can be anything from paper to USB’s and computers, anything that contains sensitive data. UnderGDPR laws, you’re legally bound to have personal data securely destroyed.

What is the food recycling process?
When your food waste is collected by Simply Waste Solutions is treated and processed in an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant. Anaerobic Digestion creates green energy and digestate which can be used in the agriculture industry to grow more crops.

What are the benefits of recycling food waste?
Simply Waste Solutions uses Anaerobic Digestion (AD) to recycle your food waste due to the amount of benefits it brings such as;
- It’s closed loop recycling, meaning your waste is being recycled to make something new with a positive impact on the environment
- AD can produce green energy as well as fertiliser and bio-fuels
- AD captures harmful gases such as methane instead of them being released when sent to landfills.

What are the benefits of recycling glass waste?
Simply Waste Solutions recycles the glass it collects due to the benefits it brings such as;
- Glass can be recycled an infinite number of times
- Less energy is needed to recycle glass than is needed to melt raw materials into new glass products
- Many products can be made from recycling glass
- Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power; a lightbulb for 1.5 hours, a television for 60 minutes and a microwave for 10 minutes.

What are the benefits of incinerating residual (general) waste?
Simply Waste Solutions takes your Residual Waste to a Energy from Waste (EfW) plant due to the benefits it creates, such as;
- You can turn your residual waste into energy which avoids landfills
- Your waste can create materials for road construction as well as electricity
- The electricity produced from EfW gets fed into the National Grid which helps to power homes and businesses!
- The amount of electricity that gets fed into the National Grid can generate enough power to power a whole London borough!

What is a Waste Baler?
A waste baler is used to compact materials such as; cardboard, paper and/or plastic.
Balers help to minimise the volume of materials but also maximise the value of them. Our balers are available to rent or to purchase outright. How safe are your trucks?
We want our trucks to be as safe as possible, that’s why we invest in modern trucks with state-of-the-art safety features including; 360 degrees recording cameras, lane departure warning systems, automatic emergency braking systems, cyclist warning systems and full CMS telematic recording software.
We invest in thorough and regular training for all our drivers, we also have many safety procedures in check as well as being part of many prestigious road safety initiatives.

What container sizes do you offer?
We offer a wide range of containers for businesses that create a little and a lot of waste. Starting from waste bags to two and four wheeled bins, to containers starting at 8 yard increasing to 40 yard in size.
We also offer compactors and balers if your business creates a large volume of packaging waste which minimises the volume of waste, we can also arrange for this to be collected.

- Can I rent / hire Waste Balers and Compactors from Simply Waste?
How do you weigh my waste/bins?
Our vehicles are fitted with on board weighing technology that allows us to give you an accurate reading of how much waste you are throwing away. The bin is weighed on the bin lift and the weight is recorded both on the way up and on the way down. The weight on the way down is deducted from the lift weight (on the way up) for us to have an accurate read on how much waste was emptied.
How long does it take for a bin delivery?
We usually work on 3-5 working days for deliveries. During peak periods this can be extended to 7-10 working days.
What container size is best suited to my business needs?
We have a variety of container sizes to suit businesses from all sectors. From bags, two and four wheeled bins to containers increasing in size up to 40-yard Roll on Roll offs.
Bags are best suited to businesses that don’t have the space to store wheelie bins, wheeled bins are the most common container we empty and suit most types of businesses. Our large containers are for sites that create large amounts of waste and want to reduce the amount of site visits required to empty the waste. - My bin has been damaged, can it be replaced?
What happens if my container is damaged?
If your container has been damaged please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your business name and postcode, a brief description of the damage and picture if possible. One of the team will be in touch in a timely manner. If you would like to speak to someone on the phone, you can call the office on 03330 433 033.
Finance Information FAQs
How do you take payments?
Our preferred method of payment is Direct Debit, but we also accept BAC’s, CHAPS or card payments.
Can I pay with cash or cheque?
Unfortunately, not. Our preferred method of payment is Direct Debit.
Who do I contact if I have an issue with my invoice?
Your account will be assigned a dedicated credit controller who will be introduced to you via email once you’ve signed your contract. You would need to email them with your query, alternatively call 03330 433 033 and select option 4 for accounts and then option 1 for credit control.
If I get a fine, who pays it?
If you are fined by your local council for waste being out on the pavement when it shouldn’t be, then you are responsible for paying the fine. Wherever possible we will try and notify you if we are going to be late, however, this is not always possible.
If we do notify you of a delay, we suggest taking your waste container(s) back in until we have updated you with a new collection window.
